How should I clean my Beslagsboden products?
For daily cleaning, simply wipe with a soft microfiber cloth and lukewarm water. This removes most dust and light stains. If needed, a mild soap solution can be used. Always dry the surface with a clean microfiber cloth to prevent water spots or limescale. Avoid abrasive pads, steel wool, or harsh sponges, as these may scratch or permanently damage the surface.
Can I use cleaning agents?
Yes, but only mild, non-abrasive agents. In most cases, lukewarm water is enough. If stronger cleaning is required, use a pH-neutral cleaner (pH 7.5–9.5) without abrasives. Never use alkaline, acidic, chlorine- or alcohol-based products, as these may cause stains or corrosion. If such agents are used elsewhere in the bathroom (e.g., for toilets or tiles), ensure your Beslagsboden products are protected from splashes.
How do I care for chrome and stainless steel finishes?
Chrome and stainless steel should be cleaned regularly to avoid limescale buildup. Use a soft cloth and water, or a cleaner designed specifically for chrome and stainless steel. Always read the product instructions and test on a small, discreet area first. Household vinegar (max 12%) is also effective against limescale: apply gently, let sit for a short time, rinse thoroughly, and dry with a microfiber cloth. Avoid solvents, scouring powders, or rough sponges, as these can scratch or dull the surface.
How do I care for brass finishes?
Brass is a natural material that develops a unique patina over time. For matte, untreated brass, this patina is a desired feature and requires only gentle cleaning with a soft, dry cloth. For polished and lacquered brass finishes, the protective coating helps preserve the original appearance—clean with lukewarm water and a soft cloth, and never use strong or abrasive cleaners. If the lacquer wears down over time, a brass polish may be used to restore shine, but only on uncoated areas. Always avoid abrasive pads or cleaners with harsh chemicals, as they can damage the finish.
How do I care for black finishes?
Beslagsboden’s black finishes are designed for everyday use but require gentle care to maintain their appearance.
Matte black surfaces: Clean using a soft, dry or slightly damp microfiber cloth. Fingerprints and water spots can be removed with lukewarm water and a mild soap solution if needed. Avoid scrubbing, as matte surfaces may develop shiny marks if polished too hard.
Polished black surfaces: These have a lacquered finish to preserve their glossy appearance. Clean with a soft microfiber cloth and lukewarm water only. Always dry the surface thoroughly to prevent water spots. Avoid any abrasive or chemical cleaners, as they can scratch the surface or reduce the shine.
In both cases, never use solvents, strong chemicals, or abrasive sponges. Proper care will preserve the deep black color and finish over time.
Do your interior door handles fit all doors?
Our interior door handles are designed according to Scandinavian standards and fit standard interior doors in Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Finland. Each set includes an 8 mm spindle (the rod that runs through the lock case) and through-bolts for secure installation.
For older doors with a different construction, separate wood screws or longer spindles are available as accessories, making installation straightforward.
How do I mount products on different wall materials?
All Beslagsboden products include installation instructions in the packaging and on each product page. For different wall materials, we recommend using appropriate plugs or anchors to ensure stability:
Lightweight concrete: use special lightweight plugs or anchors designed for porous surfaces.
Concrete or brick: use nylon plugs or expansion bolts with a hammer drill.
Gypsum (plasterboard): use metal or nylon expanders; for heavier products, always fasten into a stud.
Chipboard/wood fibre: use wood screws or chipboard screws.
